Why, you get Mel Gibson and Britney Spears on a Costa Rican vacation. <br /><br />No, stop the rumor mills. They are not an item – at least according to their respective publicists. Apparently, Mel Gibson – who by the way is under a three-year probation since pleading guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge last 2006 and starring in an anti-Semitic scandal – felt that he could help the infamous pop princess. Different reports confirmed that prior to their reported Costa Rican getaway, the duo has had several meetings since Gibson and his wife Robin extended support to a hospitalized Britney last February. <br /><br />Spokespersons for the Gibson couple say that the former felt that it they can help the troubled singer through her personal and career crisis. It was what they call, a “neighborly” act since the couple and the singer were once neighbors in an exclusive Malibu community. <br /><br />According to several sources, Britney and Mel had dinner with a few friends at Romanov, a Studio City restaurant specializing in Russian cuisine. While it is unknown whether Mel’s wife was present at the dinner, Britney reportedly arrived with a friend known only as Victoria. Reports indicated that the two hit it off quite well and that Britney went home happy. Perhaps they scheduled the vacation?<br /><br />To those whose minds are now growing crazy with speculation, let it be said that Mel and Britney didn’t fly to Costa Rica alone. Mel took his wife Robin along while Britney was with her father. If you can recall, James Spears was named as one of the two co-conservators of his pop star daughter’s estate following her increasingly erratic display of public behavior. (For those of you who don’t know, conservatorships are granted for people who deemed unable to take care of themselves and their affairs.)<br /><br />Well, considering the things that are happening, it seems that things are finally looking up for the troubled singer if only she wouldn’t find a way to go off-track again.
